I Say Potato exhibition at the Bridgehampton Museum

I Say Potato, an immersive, interdisciplinary art show that unearths the profound historical and cultural significance of the potato on Long Island—especially in the fields and memories of Bridgehampton itself.  Through a diverse array of paintings, sculpture, video, and historical ephemera, I Say Potato reveals the deep imprint this “ground nut” has left on the local landscape, economy, and imagination. Once growing wild across the East End and later becoming a staple crop of the region’s thriving agricultural industry, the potato is both a literal and symbolic presence in the soil of Long Island.

Steve Miller’s work was featured in I Say Potato, a multimedia exhibition at the Bridgehampton Museum exploring memory, identity, and Long Island’s agricultural heritage through the cultural symbolism of the potato. On view June 6–28, 2025, the exhibition included Miller’s specially created “Potato X-ray,” which merged contemporary imaging technology with local history and reflected his ongoing exploration of art, science, and place.

Tree Story for Anne Fontaine Foundation At Sotheby’s

On April 8, 2013 at Sotheby’s NYC there is a photo auction about artists using images of trees or referencing forests in their work. I’ll be there.

“Trees in Focus” is an itinerant photography exhibition organized by the Anne Fontaine Foundation in order to raise awareness and to support its reforestation efforts in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.  This exhibition and auction is a continuation of my work in the Amazon where my contribution to this exhibition originated.  Here is a link to event as well as a book published by Assouline, plus a website article @ Anne Fontaine about other images from my series entitled “Health of the Planet.”

This initiates my first blog entry from my web site
